Greetings to all Texas CRNAs! I hope you are having a fantastic 2023. It is my pleasure to greet you as the Vice President of TxANA and provide you with updates from the Education Committee.
Thank you to everyone who completed the TxANA survey regarding the future of the TxANA Annual Convention and CRNA Day at the Capitol, distributed in March. The answers and comments from the survey were clear: the members prefer an Annual Convention separate from Capitol Day, with rotating locations across Texas. This data was invaluable to our decision-making and helped guide our plans for the next convention.

TxANA Members, Dentists Testify for Texas House Bill 1930

AUSTIN, TX—Members of the Texas Association of Nurse Anesthetists (TxANA) testified for House Bill 1930 on Monday at the Texas State Capitol regarding the administration of anesthesia by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) on the order of a dentist.

Texas dentists testified, in addition to TxANA members, advocating to remove barriers blocking easy access to anesthesia care provided by CRNAs in dental offices.

New Poll: Texas Voters Overwhelming Support Removing Barriers on Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

Austin, TX (March 15, 2023) – A new statewide poll shows an overwhelming majority of Texas voters support modernizing state regulations on Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to make it easier for patients to see healthcare providers closer to home. The poll was commissioned by Texans for Healthcare Access and conducted in February by Baselice & Associates Inc. and GS Strategy Group.

Texas Association of Nurse Anesthetists Signs on Coalition Addressing Nursing Shortage

AUSTIN, TX—The Texas Association of Nurse Anesthetists (TxANA) has joined the Nursing Shortage Reduction Coalition to address the acute shortage of nurses in Texas.

The Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies reported a shortage of over 27,000 Registered Nurses (RNs) in 2018 and projected a shortage of approximately 57,000 RNs by 2032. As Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), this ultimately impacts the future of anesthesia in Texas.
