Nominations Open for 2026 Board Elections

TxANA is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Board of Directors election. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of TxANA and the profession of nurse anesthesia in Texas. Members may nominate themselves or another eligible member for consideration. 

2026 Positions Open for Nomination

  • President-Elect — 1-year term
  • Vice President — 1-year term
  • Three Directors — 2-year terms
  • Rural Director — 2-year term; elected in even-numbered years
The Secretary/Treasurer is not up for election in 2026, and the President is not separately elected because the President-Elect automatically succeeds to President on September 1.

Nomination Eligibility Requirements

To stand for election, nominees must meet the eligibility requirements in the TxANA Bylaws. In general, nominees should expect to meet the following qualifications:
  • Be eligible for TxANA membership, which requires AANA membership with current dues.
  • Be an active certified or active recertified member.
  • Have practiced anesthesia in Texas for the majority of the year in which they are seeking election, and be able to maintain that requirement during their term.
  • Have attended a TxANA event or served the majority of a committee term within the past seven years.
  • Not currently serve on the AANA Board of Directors.
Additional eligibility expectations apply for certain offices:
  • President-Elect, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer: nominees must have served on the TxANA Board for the majority of an elected or appointed term within the past seven years.
  • Rural Director: nominees must have practiced anesthesia in a rural setting in Texas for the majority of the year in which they are seeking election and must maintain that rural eligibility during the term.
  • Certain offices also have term-limit restrictions unless there are no other candidates on the ballot.
Please note: nomination does not automatically place a candidate on the ballot. Written consent is required before a name can appear on the ballot, and final eligibility will be confirmed during the candidate packet and screening process. 

Key Dates and Deadlines

  • March 20, 2026 — Nominations open
  • Apr 20 -- Nominations close (Deadline extended)
  • May 8 -- Candidate packets due (consent + quals)
  • May 22 -- Slate finalized (committee)
  • May 26 -- Candidate notifications complete
  • Jun 6 -- Board milestone: slate received / method confirmed
  • Jul 3 -- Ballot distributed (required)
  • Aug 18 -- Ballot due (required)
  • Sep 1 -- Terms begin
Only active members may vote in the election. The ballot must be distributed at least 60 days before September 1, and the return deadline must be at least two weeks before September 1.
