What do I need to do prior to signing a contract?

A CRNA finding themselves in a position of being asked to sign any contract should seek competent advice from an attorney familiar with the laws that apply to the employment or independent contractor relationship. In addition to consulting an attorney, CRNAs should familiarize themselves with facility privileges, bylaws and policies, accreditation, and any other relevant standards, as these can all impact contracting procedures and their content. Finally, CRNAs should identify federal or state law, regulations, or policies that may impact their employment situation. AANA provides contract templates and checklists, as well as other useful documents, here.
