Statement of Platform:

My name is Amy Blok and I have been a practicing CRNA for a little over a decade now. Most of my anesthetic practice has been in the Houston Metro area but I have recently relocated outside of Austin, Texas and have moved into an independent 1099 role for private physician groups. Having worked in a strong ACT model and now independent practice, I feel I am qualified to understand the needs and unintended consequences of our actions at the state level for CRNAs in both environments. In addition, I have been involved in education since 2014 and have held the position of Assistant Professor at the Cizik School of Nursing, Houston, TX and I make it my personal mission to inform our future nurse anesthetists about the importance of being aware of current events and staying involved in the profession.

Our landscape is changing and we have risen to challenges along the way. Unfortunately, those challenges are unlikely to stop surfacing. From political issues to AG opinions, to the ability to perform an H&P for cosmetic injections, I am committed to defending the best interests of the members of this association. I will work closely with our executive staff and lobbyists to ensure we are able to perform to the scope of our practice. I have listened to our members and pushed their concerns to the board in the recent past and will continue to do so in the future. I would appreciate your vote for President-Elect.
