In Memoriam of Henry Dougherty (1957 - 2015)

Dr. Henry "Hank" Thomas Dougherty died peacefully Saturday, May 9, 2015. Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 4 p.m. Monday, May 18, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment: Herkimer, N.Y. Memorials: St. Peregrine's Crusaders, The UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, myFundraising: crusade, Box 4470, Houston, Texas 77210-4470. Henry Thomas Dougherty was born Oct. 28, 1957, to James Eugene Sr. and Ann Theresa Goldsmith Dougherty at the U.S. Naval Air Base in Warwick, Bermuda. The family soon after moved to Herkimer, N.Y. Hank earned a B.S. in nursing from the State University of New York, a master's in health science and a doctorate in nurse anesthesia practice from Texas Wesleyan University. Hank and Jean Elizabeth Ball were married June 30, 1984. In 1987, Hank and Jean moved to Fort Worth where he worked for Harris Methodist downtown while completing his education. In 1997, he joined Kaiser Permanente in Portland, Ore,, where they lived until they returned to Fort Worth in 2009. Hank then came back to Harris retiring after a few years. Hank was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a lifetime member of VFW Post 4915 in Herkimer. He enjoyed his work as a clinician and gave back to his profession through teaching. Hank "lived life large" and enjoyed hunting, fishing, brewing and spending countless hours with his family and friends. Hank was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Dougherty. Survivors: His wife of 30 years, Jean Elizabeth Dougherty; brother, James E. Dougherty Jr.; and nephews and nieces, Matthew Dougherty, Meagan Loncaric, Amelia Anderson, Laurel Younis, Joseph Ball, Elise Ball and Ashley Ball, Michael Wetherbee, Matthew Wetherbee and Brianna Wetherbee.
