AUSTIN, TEXAS (May 24, 2022)--The following statement on the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas should be attributed to Abby Caswell, DNP, CRNA, President of the Texas Association of Nurse Anesthetists (TxANA):

“Our hearts ache for the Uvalde community and the families impacted by the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School. Texas Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are used to being on the front lines of our hospitals and battlefields, caring for the critical needs of trauma victims and hospital patients. TxANA, our members in South Texas and CRNAs across the state grieve for the students, teachers, and family members senselessly gunned down and those whose emotional wounds will endure for many years to come.”
